Life as Ethnicity: Other

This is it.

This, an account by a half Indian, half white, Brit, is the closest thing I have ever read to my own experience as a culturally English, ethnically Chinese person.

And I realise that in one way, it's ridiculous to be so shocked and awed to have someone capture it so well, but I am.

When worlds collide.... as soon as I read your description of the article, I knew it was my friend. ^___^ I've considered Amelia a friend for - what? ten years now on LJ and mailing lists? - and her writing on feminism and being of mixed-race always speaks to me. She has a blog (I believe entitled "Mixed Race Feminist") that is very powerful, and I should've plugged it long ago if it would've brought comfort to you in any way. :D

Hee! The internet is a small place at times.

I had a quick look at her blog and really related to what I read but it looks like she doesn't update very often anymore?

yeah, I mentioned it before realizing she hadn't been updating. :( She's got a guest spot for a month on the blog you found her on, though - so maybe she has a few more posts there? :)
